I came across this site while surfing the net,
I just thought that you would be interested in this:
Review of Black Women Rejoice
***
My hair had been without a perm for a year so needless to say it was quite
unruly. I followed Wanakee's methods for about a year and I didn't really
see any noticeable difference in my hair. I think that it grew, but not
really that much. I then opted to buy her "moisture shampoo and conditioner"
thinking things would get better, but things did not really improve,
particularly regarding growth. My hair still appeared to be dry which didn't
help with the breaking. I don't know what type of hair I have, but I know it
is fine, but you wouldn't know it if you looked at my hair because I have so
much hair - volume that is.
It was in June-July of 2000 that I came across Brenda's website
(www.blackwomenrejoice.com) regarding her knowledge as to growing african
american hair. I sent away for what she calls "the report" and tried to do
what she said. Wash hair every 3-5 days, getting a perm every month, misinformation
trimming your hair at least 1/4" every month misinformation with the SSOTP (sharpest
scissors on the planet), using a moisture-rich shampoo misinformation and conditioner, etc.
I knew that hair experts say that hair, (no matter what kind of hair) grows
1/4" - 1/2" every month. So I asked Brenda via e-mail, and I quote... would
it be OK if I cut only 1/8" every month misinformation since hair only grows 1/4" - 1/2"
every month. Would I not be cutting away my growth if I cut off as much as
you say.. unquote.
She responded back by saying that she insists.... it must be 1/4" and her
explanation was... you need to get in control of the split ends/breakage.
I'm not sure exactly word for word what she said, but it was something along
those lines. So I began her methods. I even bought a pair of scissors that
were very expensive misinformation because I wanted to follow her methods to the "T". She
advised us to give it 3 months - 6 months. I washed and conditioned my hair
every 3 days. I would use no oils misinformation, no grease, no moisturizer (other than the
shampoo and conditioner).
***
I read your e-mail and I am glad you sent it to me. Each statement written by the writer told me that she merely glanced over my report and made assumptions in comprehension. There are some very important subtleties that I have been trying to get women to pay closer attention to. But sometimes we still try to change the formula and wonder why it doesn't work. If I can, I hope to go to that site and correct each line of misinformation so we can get on the right track. My report is boringly detailed and I would hate to see this information go to waste. Take care and enjoy the report.
Sincerely,
Brenda
As it turns out I don't have enough red ink to fix all of her misinturpitations. I tell you to read my report at least 3 times to ever hope to focus on the details. What seems simple and obvious is really simple and profound. The proof is in the details.

Hello!
I'm only on day 3 of my new hair care and I'm just loving it!!! It feels
so nice to feel the breeze through my hair, even if it is short!! I'm
having a love affair with my hair again, and it feels sooo good!! Thank
God for women like you, who have taken it upon themselves to find
answers to lifelong questions!! I want to shout and tell the world that
they can have long, healthy hair, but I think I'll just let my hair do
the talking! Thanks for sharing your hair care secrets with the world!!

I wanted to thank you for the information you sent. It makes all the sense
in the world. I've gone natural with my hair but I suppose the same still
applies even if you're not perming. I just wanted you to know that I think
its great and there is no reason why you shouldn't charge for the
information that's going to save somebody out there thousands of dollars.
Keep on keeping on!

Hey Cousin:
Just writing to let you know that there is already a noticeable difference
within 2-3 days of reading and implementing your article. I have stopped with
all sheens and oils. The only thing I have been using is pantene’s new
conditioner for women of color. I use it as a leave in even though it is
supposed to be rinsed out. My hair is soft, fluffy and it LOOKS healthier.
Thanks again.

I downloaded your manual on Saturday December 7th and I have to tell
you that I am already seeing a difference in my hair! Having a short
cut and having just had a baby 5 months ago, my hair is/was dismal.
I anticipated losing some of hair due to hormone changes, but I did
not anticipate the texture changing so much! At 33, I had to resort
to wearing wigs and covering my hair up. Within a week, my own hair
is softer. I have no shedding or breakage and although it is not
VO5 shiny it does seem healthier! I live in an area where stylists
have very limited exposure to African American hair and/or the stylists
don't stay in the area. I have been struggling with how to do my own
hair and have been feeling guilty that I allowed myself to let others
dictate how my hair should be instead of me! Thanks for the freedom
you have given me.

Hello Brenda, I'm so glad to hear from you.
I've been on the program for 1 year and two months now and I really
love it. I've tried to get other women to try your program but they
just aren't up to the task. I guess it's like you say in your report.
This process is mental and it takes discipline and consistency to
see results.
Well, Brenda, I better let you go now. I look forward to hearing
from you very soon. Have a great week and be blessed!!!!

Thanks Brenda....for taking the time to clear up some of my concerns.
I am happy to report...that since I have stopped puting any chemical
relaxers in my hair (since May 02') my hair is noticibaly healthier
than it's been in many, many years. It's incredibly "puffy", if you
will.... but very healthy & soft. I'm thinking of going "back to the
basic" like my mom use to do when I was young....like going back to
using Johnson's Baby Shampoo??...the most gental of all.
Thanks for the many useful tips in your bio! I'll keep you posted on
any further progress....if you don't mind?

Dearest Brenda,
You beat me to the punch! I was going to email you and tell you how
wonderful it was to meet you. My wayward child was acting up in the
library and I completely ignored the librarian who was kindly
checking me in when I saw you out of the corner of my eye.
There are many reasons why your site and you are endeared to me,
chiefly because you are a young African woman who I have discerened
cares for her customers, (don't get me wrong getting paid is nice
too!) but there are not many companies that put people before profits.
Also because you are by all accounts what I consider a successful
business entreprenuer and that makes you a role model. So don't be
suprised when people recognize you!
Of course later, I jokingly told my husband, I would have to meet her
then I was having a bad hair day, as well as breaking a few of the
rules (i.e.bobbypins etc) A lot of my hair stuff is stress related.
But you have freed a sister. I mean it! I see we both have "grey"
hair which suprised me! I tell my child he helped me earn mine.
Well friend, you were that "cool drink of water that refreshed a very
beleagured soul." I wish you much, much continued success on your
site. It has been a thrill and honor to see it in the making. Be
well in the things that truly matter and again, It was nice meeting
you personally. You'll hear from me again soon.
Kind regards, C
The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly
smile, not the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration
that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him
and is willing to trust him with his friendship.

Hello C,
You are a miracle to me. I can not tell you how cool that was meeting
you and actually hear your successes. I am astonished that you
recognized me and was honored that you recognized my page. One day
this summer I decided to update my Netscape Navigator, after which I
promptly lost everything. Every e-mail every letter/question every
update. I have become such an expert at getting around all of the
subsequent computer crashes. I was able to locate your e-mail name.
Although who could forget it. Thank you so much for introducing
yourself to me. Today I finished a web page update that has been 2
years in the making. I was on my way out the door the say something
to my husband he has never heard me say before. "I'm finished" as
in, "can't think of anything else I want on my web page." Now maybe I
can get back to talking with customers more effectively.
It was great meeting you, thank you for making my day!

To: Brenda@BlackWomenRejoice.com
Hello Brenda,
I have taken the time to read your entire site...it took me two nites
but I kept on reading. What kept me reading was the fact that you
continuously, and to a "T" took the words right out of my mouth! For
years I've been trying to explain to others and under myself, just
what specific problems I have with "my" hair...and what I'm doing
wrong. Like why is it that when I use Pantene conditioner my hair
does'nt look like that black woman's hair on TV?
Most of my friends are non-black and can't begin to phathom the daily
trials and tribulations I go through just to be "presentable" enough
to leave my house. Nevermind having my hair style be the one I
inteneded....but the one I "end up with". They simply wash & dry their
perfectly managable manes each day without a second thought. They
never have the sensless worries we women of color have to endure on a
daily basis (weather, after swimming etc..). And they have a nerve to
complain....about....a "bad hair day. It's physically impossible to
permantly ruine non-black hair. I've seen missuse done again and again
by bleaches, perms etc...And no matter what torture they endure,
their hair always returns to a beautiful and healthy state. And ALWAYS
grows back no matter what they do to it. Do you agree? Does anyone
get what I'm saying? "I" want that experience for once!
Though I am all for finding the answers and taking necessary steps to
insure....for once...healthy...actively growing hair....I hope some
of these suggestions don't lead me to wear unattractive scarves or
oil hair masqe regimins in front of my husband or to bed etc...I am
newly married, and couldn't see my new husband seeing his new bride
or any woman for that matter...in a head wrap or sitting under a
stationary hair dryer....
Lets face it....HAIR is sexy...it is a sign of feminimity....the more
silky locks you have the sexier...in my opinion. Hally Berry may be
darn sexy (no denyin' that) but imagine her with 5 more inches of
hair....And look at Ailiah...she took the cake! If you took her long
locks away...the impact just would'nt have been the same. And most
woman who give in to a short managable du wishes with every fiber in
them that they had luxurious long hair....but it just NEVER happens.
That's the ONLY reason my hair is the length it is....definitly not
by choice!!!
Anyway....sorry took so long to make my point. I've wanting to vent
about this for years to someone who really understands. I'm in great
$$ financial straps right now and hope to save the money to purchase
your "system". It's been over 20 years since my hair has been past my
shoulders and all one length (since 4th grade to be exact). I even
went to a dermatologist thinking I must have some sort of
deficiency....and of course, they did'nt tell me anything I did'nt
already know...Like..."do you know you have very dry hair and it is
contributing to your breakage?" Duhhh!!!! "That will be $20 please."
Tell me somthing I DON'T know!
I've been praying for something that works. I hope this is it! Now
just one question....I notice you have 3 pics of yourself on the
website....is your hair any longer now than when the 3rd pic was
taken?....Shoulder length hair does'nt seem to be as much of a problem
as obtaining hair PAST the shoulders.
Thanks for any input....

Hi Brenda!
Just finished reviewing your manual and noticing the print out date
(August 2000). I can't believe it's been two years. I started out
with
hair about the length of yours at the beginning of "the journey" and
it's now the length of your current photo.
"I got bouncing and behaving", healthy long hair, and I get
compliments
daily. (smile!!) I still have some hair shedding due to medications
but
it's still gorgeous!!!
I live in Louisiana; dealing with "serious" heat and humidity here;
but
when I sweat, my hair dries quickly and looks better than ever.
Thanks again!

hi Brenda I hope you are still responding to E-mails. I just want
thank you for this information because it has really helped me. I
purchased your report in late 2000, and I followed the instructions
very carefully and I saw great results I never had my hair this long
and at this state before. when I saw this report I did not question
whether it was real or not, I just simply ask myself how much have I
spend so far trying to get my hair to be healthy and the answer is the
cost of this report is just a drop in the bucket and the fact that
you said is not something in a bottle which means that I don't have
put unknown chemical in my hair. I am almost 26, when I have my hair
down I notice black women staring at my hair. last year I had a baby
and during my 8th and 9th month of pregnancy I had difficulty doing
on my own so I went a hairdresser to have it done, they used a fine
tooth comb to comb my hair and it started falling out and with the new
baby is even more difficult to take care it. now the baby is little
bigger I have started taking care it of myself. my hair is still
healthy but not as much as it was before I started going to a
hairdresser.
thanks.

Dear Brenda
I just thought I'd write to thank you for your brilliant product.
I live and work in London in the UK as a computer trainer and am a
self-confessed internet junkie. I've bought so much stuff off the
internet, self-help tapes, bookes, beauty products, manuals, you name
it, and yesterday, when I was cursing myself for having been conned yet
another time I realised with some surprise that yours is the ONLY one
thing I've bought off the internet that worked precisely as it said it
would! There was no "you have to believe", no "this works
for 98% of our customers, there must be something wrong with you,"
no nonsense. You said, "do this and you will have long, lovely hair",
I did, and now a year and a half on, I have hair that turns heads.
If you ever need a photographic testimonial, let me know! Its a true
miracle
- I hate my job, my clothes, my car, but I LOVE my hair!
So I'm writing to thank you not only for the hair, but for your
integrity as an internet entrepreneur and business-woman. I'm glad
that at least one person out there bothers to tell the truth [now
you've sorted out my hair, can you sort out the rest of my life :)].
Many thanks!

Hello Brenda;
I've been using your hair plan for approximately a year and a half.
When I first started using the plan, I was receiving 4 to 5
compliments per week. People who didn't even know me on the street
would just walk up to me and say how nice it looked. I am very proud
to say, that my hair has grown considerably, and I'm still getting
numerous compliments, and your manual is everything you say it is
and more. For real, I think your being modest. One thing about a lot
of our sisters, they will ask you what your doing with your hair, but
not willing to take the time or advice you give and contact you to get
the same results. All I can say is, it's their lost. Never-the-less,
I am loving my hair more and more. Even when the wind blows it all
over my head, it falls right back in place and I don't have to touch it.
I love it, love it, love it. Oh, by the way, this was happening when I
first started using your plan before my hair started growing as well.
So soft, fluffy, and
manageable. People can not believe that I do my own hair.
Thank you so much for sharing, I would have paid $100.00 for these
results!
Have a great day

Hi Brenda!!
Hello Again, Sis! Just a note to say, "Thanks" for your Manual. I
haven't
even completed the process , yet I am having the
time of
my life.
For the first time in several years, I have a relaxer (MILD) on my
hair, and
I am keeping it clean and moisturized. I swim at least three times a
week,
and my hair is in EXCELLENT CONDITION! I am scheduled this week for a
good
cut. I am not the least bit concerned right now about styling, and
since I
am home everyday, I have time to pamper, really care for my hair. I
also
have unlimited options as to how I want to wear it.
In one part of your Manual, you gave the instructions for the process
and
then said, "...Then leave it alone! Brenda, that's the hard part. I
can't
leave it alone. It feels so great, and for the first time in the
history of
caring for my hair, I am enjoying the very thing I have been running
from -
!
I am really laughing and talking to you a lot these days (virtual
conversations, that is). my hair feels soooooooooooo good, and I am
very
happy that I found your site. Now I am doing the very thing I have
seen
others do so much, constantly caressing, loving my hair.
Thanks Again. Maybe I will write again soon and give you a progress
report.
Till then, I pray that your health is good and your family is well.
Please
continue to take good care of yourself. You deserve the God's best.
Sincerely Grateful to you
and to God for you,

Thank you, Brenda. I think the privilege of using ... will make Mom
"plumb
giddy"!!! I have got to send you pictures so you will be able to see
our progress. Honestly I
am proud to be able to say I am using a hair growth method developed
for Black women BY a
Black woman.
I was visiting a church in Shreveport LA on Saturday...a girl approx.
12/13 ish was talking to
her girlfriend in the restroom. She had a fresh set of long braids.
The friend asked, "Doesn't that
hurt?" as I walked through the door.
"Yes," the girl said and winced as she spoke.
I looked at her scalp and asked "Girl, who one earth braided your hair
so tightly? Don't ever let
them do it again!"
Brenda, the child's hair was braided so tightly that her scalp was a
very angry red and broken
into sores in several places. The scalp bulged from the strain.
She had done the "hot water thing", she hadn't been able to sleep the
night before (my own
experience with braids that were too tight).
I told her what to do to soothe and heal the scalp while it was so
stressed and told her what you
said about hair breaking and follicles being damaged at the root when
braided in that manner.
I had the opportunity to talk with the child's father after service.
His ex-wife's friend had done
the braiding, and he knew nothing about hair care for females so I told
him about your website
and your method for hair care. He said he wouldn't allow it to be
braided that way again and
sincerely thanked me for telling him about a better way of caring for
his daughter's hair (I know
he was looking for convenience...his new wife is Hispanic or something
and braids are
easy-care when you really don't know what to do with short nappy hair :)
)
When we were little and told our Aunt "thank you" for pressing our hair,
she would say,"don't
say thank you , Honey, say "More hair!!"
So, God bless and "More hair!!!"

\o/Hi Brenda!!!
TOUCHDOWN! Thank you. I finally received my Manual. I am already
very
excited, and have no doubt that this is going to be a real boost for
me.
Just the small portions I read during printout are sooooooo
encouraging.
Also, thank you for re-packaging the information for me. I am not sure
what
the problem is (probably my lack of knowledge in that area of
computerism) in
transmission. However, anytime a document is sent in Word, it reaches
me
with no problems.
Brenda, I really appreciate your prompt reply to my e-mail and wish you
well
in this venture. Obviously you have gone to great lengths to acquire
this
data. May I also say that your vision and subsequent efforts in
refining
this process is truly indicative of the entrenched wisdom in the
African
American community. Our foreparents always knew that there was a way
to do
anything, and they found a way to do it. You say you are not a
professional
hairdresser, and I's sure that for legal reasons, it's good that you
point
that out. HOWEVER, our community has never primarily thrived through
the
labor and expertise of the "capped, gowned and degreed." That came
later.
I've been around long enough to know what I'm talking about.
It has always been God's Grace And Blessings on those wonderful people
in our
homes, neighborhoods and in our churches - be it cooking, grooming,
healing
the sick, whatever. As a matter of fact, the more education many of
the
present-day hairdressers get, the more hair many of us lose. You are
better
than the "professional hairdresser." You are the Real Woman. You
address
the problems of our hair so lovingly, with compassion that we never
get, even
from most of those charged to help. Please keep up the wonderful work
you
are doing.
You will probably be hearing from me in the future. In the meantime,
my
family and I send love to you and yours. Hope you are having a good
holiday
celebration, especially a very, very, relaxing one.
Again, Thanks,
Jea

Hi Brenda,
I'm very glad to let you know that I've experienced nothing but
positive results
since I've been following your hair care program. I am constantly
getting
comments from people on how much my hair has grown and is growing. My
stylist
even agreed with a lot of your recommendations. Since I can only
afford to see
her once every six to eight weeks for my touch-up, I'm on my own in the
mean
time with personal hair care. She has really been pleased and
impressed with
the growth she sees when I sit in her chair.
I thought I wouldn't be able to cope without using my ..., but
I have to
say I'm really starting to love my moisturizer. My hair not only looks
better
but feels better and has lasting style result!
I wanted to share with you a few other tips I learned from her about
moisturizing. To lock moisture into the hair, my stylist suggested a
protein
conditioner called, "DUO-TEX" by Ultra Sheen. Since, I also have a
little color
in my hair moisturizing is all the more important, so I also use a
Cholesterol
Conditioner. The results of all this good advice is healthy, long,
fabulous
hair and you can't beat that!!
Thanks again for your great suggestions. Look out "POCAHANTAS"!!

I purchased your report last summer, and wanted to inform you that I am
extremely happy with the results. My hair is in a "natural" condition,
and, I
have to say that it is in the best condition it has ever been in this
state.
Like a lot of your other ladies, I did find some concepts rather
daunting but great! I love the idea of not wasting precious hours
washing and
conditioning - AND achieving BETTER results with your idea than I used
to in
the past. I have to tell you, the other week I told my husband that I
was
"just going upstairs to wash my hair" - well, I was back down in less
than
15mins, he looked at me and said: "I thought you were going to wash your
hair?", I informed him that I just had, and he gave me a really strange
look!
Since, he has been used to me spending HOURS on washing, conditioning,
steaming, washing again, etc., etc. My hair stays/smells cleaner longer
AND, I have to say, what's more, my pillows no
longer look like something "nasty" has been sleeping in my bed! I went
to get
my hair trimmed the other week, and my hairdresser said: "You've been
taking
good care of your hair, haven't you? I can see that." However, she then
went
on to recommend an oil spray for shine - and, as you have said - and I
agree
with you - oil, which will clog, will not achieve that desired result -
think
more about health than shine, as "our" hair structure doesn't have
"shine"
per se. I could not believe that "natural" hair could ever feel soft,
but,
with the help of your advice, mine does. It was $20 well invested.
Thank You again,
Best Wishes and the Kindest of regards,
T W

Hi Brenda-
I am a 19 year old college student in East Lansing Michigan. For about
2 years
now, I have been trying to grow out my hair. It had been severly
damaged from
way too much heat. When I saw your report on the Internet, I was SO
skeptical.
I thought "this is just another way to get money" In America today,
people are
used to being lied to, so its easy to be apprehensive before spending
your
hard earned money. When I got the report, I immediately ... on my
hair. I
was amazed! In 6 months, my hair was past my shoulders. This is the
thickest
and softest my hair has been since I was about 7 or 8. I still get
perms, so I
dont want anyone to think that that is what did it. Your report was so
helpful
to me, I hope that it can do for others what it has amzingly done for
me. God
bless!
Truly yours,

Hi Brenda,
I purchased your product back in September. I just want to let you know
briefly that my hair has grown at least 3 inches since September. I
read all
of the information, followed the steps and I saw RESULTS. My hair
texture
has changed for the better and I am loving it. I want to thank you for
the
hard work in finding a solution for our hair.

Subject: MY HAIR IS GROWING...MY HAIR IS GROWING!!!!
Date:
Last year, Nov 2000
Brenda,
GURL, GURL, GURL!!!! I wrote you about three months ago after I
purchased your hair care document online the beginning of August.
It's three months almost exactly since I started on the plan
you painstakingly put together for sistahs like US!!!
I was always a course, thick-headed, kinky headed sistah with
hair
breakage all the time. Even when certain parts of my hair
would grow (usually the top), my sides, back and front would break,
break, break away! I never thought I could grow long
hair, so I just always kept the sides and back short like the
Halle Berry look.
When I started the hair care system, I was not skeptical like
some but very eager to jump in feet first. When I started, my
hair
was
barely past my hair neckline in the back!
As I write you, Brenda, I can feel hair on my NECK!!! WHEW!!! I have
thick
hair that is lengthy, strong and BEEEEUTIFUL!!!! In only three short
months,
there is a DRAMATIC difference, gurl! GOD BLESS YOU and your years of
trials, testing and finally the TRUTH about our kinky hair!
I perm my hair at home like you and it's come out great EVERY time
using your
system. Every few weeks I log onto your picture gallery and see your
hair at
the 12 month, 14 month and 18 month stages, and say, "Boy, I can't wait
till
that's me!"
I have a sistah girlfriend who's hair is long but it looks so
unhealthy, has
hair breakage at the ends, looks dull and lifeless. She hasn't seen me
since
May so she has no idea what my hair looks like. I tried to get her to
come
into the Brenda fold but she's taking matters into her own hands...at
her
hair's expense.
I'm going to be a walking billboard for you, gurl. Give me three more
months
and I want to sign up for the program to help you sell your literature.
By
that time I know folks at church, back home, etc. will be asking,
"How'd you
do it?" I can point them to you.
Just like the Atkins Diet that I've been on for a little bit, people
are
always asking what I'm doing. I've got several people now on that same
plan
because of the results. Word of mouth is the best advertisement!
I just had to share with you, Brenda. I didn't mean to be so lengthy
but I
can go on and on about your hair care system.
I have a pic of before, back in August and will take one in three
months so
that you can see what I'm talking about!
Stay blessed and HIGHLY favored, sistah! You're a GEM!!
Signed,
Hair Swingin' Sistah!
